==== 19.12. The Theater That Projects Itself ====
\\
**Location:** Nakamachi Film Arc \\
**Description:** \\
Once a children’s cinema, the Nakamachi Film Arc now contains no screen---just a large convex mirror and rows of backward-facing seats. At the front, an empty booth projects nothing visible. And yet, shadows flicker across the audience as if reacting to an unseen light. Judai sits and suddenly remembers a film he never watched but can now quote. Juna sees herself from behind, watching herself watch. The film is not screened---it is remembered into being. It draws on fears buried in reel bins and nostalgia for narratives that failed to conclude. Occasionally, a single subtitle appears, suspended in air: “Rewind to forget.” No film is ever loaded. But all films are shown. \\

**Keywords:** \\
phantom cinema, self-projecting theater, backward seats, memory-induced film, invisible screening \\

**Very Short Story:** \\
The moment she sits, she forgets where she is. The mirror shows her alone in the audience, but she can feel Judai beside her. A flickering light begins---but from nowhere. Dialogue echoes through her head: a conversation between two characters who look like her parents, but younger, sadder. Judai takes notes without ink. Juna mouths the words she hears, though no sound exists. When she stands, the film ends with a click. Her chair is empty again. Judai asks her what she saw. “A war that was also a dinner,” she replies. They leave, and on the sidewalk, a stranger says: “I loved you in that role.” Juna smiles. She was never in the film. \\
