==== 21.1. Stations of the Railroad Crossing ====
\\
**Location:** Digital Museum of Gunkanjima \\
**Description:** \\
The journey begins not with a train, but with a display glowing in the dim archive of Nagasaki’s Digital Museum. The exhibits form a constellation of routes, obsolete platforms, and destination boards. Each flicker on the screen is a ghost of arrival. Here, the Railroad Terminus is made metaphor---an artifact, preserved in code and curation. Maps reveal routes no longer walked; one path bends toward the Broken Arch, another traces skyward to the rooftop temples above Urakami. Beneath the museum’s simulated platforms, an imitation of Saito Temple waits---a roof suspended in digital silence. Visitors leave annotated footnotes in the air. Judai points to the blinking rail segments. Juna whispers: “This line loops, always.” In this terminus, travel ends in memory---and begins again in simulation. \\

**Very Short Story:** \\
Judai and Juna stood before a looping animation of train arrivals that never truly arrived. The rail diagram flickered---Judai swore it rewrote itself each time they looked away. Juna found her father’s station log tucked inside a false cabinet, next to a lantern that never needed fuel. The air shimmered with embedded annotations left by previous wanderers. A terminal blinked out “Next Train: Yesterday.” They traced lines to destinations neither had heard of. Outside, a recording played the sounds of footfalls, but no one was walking. Juna reached for the temple suspended above their heads---flat, pixelated, and impossible. They stood together under the ghost roof. The museum didn’t end---it restarted every 23 minutes. The terminus was a loop, and they had already arrived. \\
