==== 22.1. First Surrender, Rehearsed Again ====
\\
**Location:** Mukden Armistice Hall \\
**Description:** \\
Inside a hall that should no longer exist, a surrender is rehearsed every evening at 18:00. The actors change, but the script remains untouched---a brittle document copied from fading carbon paper, once signed beneath chandeliers stolen from Dairen. In Mukden’s Armistice Hall, the chairs creak in protest. Juna examines the floor---soft with repeated kneeling. Judai recognizes one of the surrendering officers as a man who refused to act in 1932. “They all agreed to do it now,” someone whispers behind the curtain. Cameras line the gallery, some blinking red, others long dead. At the center, the same treaty is unrolled again. Its ink bleeds backward. This is not performance---it is echo, ritualized into obedience. The war, perhaps, ended. But the surrender remains fresh. \\

**Keywords:** \\
armistice ritual, carbon copy script, camera echo, surrender reenactment, echo of obedience \\

**Very Short Story:** \\
Juna turned the paper over. It was blank. “It’s been signed so many times the words disappeared,” she said. Judai sat in the surrendering chair. It was warm. The reenactment began: a dozen officers filed in, repeating their lines like monks in prayer. “Do they know they’re ghosts?” Juna asked. “They never left,” Judai said. A boy behind the curtain dropped a cue card. The lights dimmed. In silence, everyone knelt. Juna filmed none of it. She closed her book and whispered, “Every surrender is the first.” No one looked up. The treaty began to bleed again. \\
