==== 22.24. Parade Without Witness ====
\\
**Location:** Staging Field, North of Fushun \\
**Description:** \\
Every week, a surrender parade is held on this wind-scoured field. The soldiers are volunteers---locals, retirees, displaced bureaucrats---marching to inaudible music. Flags are raised with no symbols. Spectators are forbidden. The only audience is a drone that circles overhead, beaming footage into a database no one accesses. Juna joins the parade, wearing a borrowed sash. Judai remains on the ridge, filming with his old hand-crank camera. The column loops three times, then dissolves. No speeches, no victory. Just movement, repetition, breath. At the end, a flower is placed on an invisible monument. And the wind carries the petals to the edge of nothing. \\

**Keywords:** \\
unwitnessed ceremony, drone spectator, silent parade, invisible monument, looped choreography \\

**Very Short Story:** \\
The march began late---no reason given. Juna fell into step behind a man in mismatched shoes. Judai filmed the silhouettes from afar. The drone blinked overhead like a single unblinking eye. At the loop’s end, she placed her flower on the grass, unsure where the monument actually stood. Someone clapped. Then stopped. She turned but saw no one. “Was that it?” she asked Judai later. “Only if you believe we ended something,” he said. \\
