==== 23.8. The Bone Archive at Sakamoto ====
\\
**Location:** Sakamoto Monastery Basement, Nagasaki \\

**Description:** \\
In the basement of the Sakamoto Monastery, beneath carved wooden floors, bones are kept---not human, not quite animal, but sorted by shape, not species. A monk records who brings what. The archive has no system, yet Judai finds a pattern: radius, vertebra, mandible. Juna matches these to aerial maps of the city before the blast. They begin to suspect the bones belong not to bodies, but to actions---gestures of surrender, decisions turned inside out. One shard matches the curve of a lifted hand. Another echoes the angle of a door left open. The archive breathes faintly. A faint light pulses from a jar labeled “Hesitation.” The air is heavy with meaning. They exit without taking notes. Some things cannot be transcribed. \\

**Keywords:** \\
Sakamoto bone archive, gesture fossils, map-body correspondence, action remains, unspoken taxonomy \\

**Very Short Story:** \\
They held one piece each---Judai a rib, Juna a finger-bone. “This one,” she said, “was from a wave goodbye.” He nodded. “And this? A held breath.” They left them where they lay. The monk said nothing. A small bell rang somewhere above, but no one entered. Outside, the sky glowed slightly. They didn’t ask why. \\
