1.18. Triple Television Zone
(Location: Rooftop Cluster, Ochanomizu Broadcasting Hub)
Description:
On the roof of a cluster of old broadcast buildings, three television antennas point at each other, forming a perfect equilateral triangle. At the triangle’s center is a deck chair and a reel of 8mm film without sprockets. Judai identifies the setup as an experimental signal loop from the 1950s. Juna sits in the chair and adjusts the volume on a nearby shortwave radio. All she hears is narration from a film that has not been made — a voice describing their movements, the rooftop, the light. Judai spins the reel and the wind carries flickers of broken celluloid. “We’re inside the broadcast,” Juna says. The triangle amplifies nothing but self-description. It’s not surveillance. It’s recursive attention — a city watching itself remember itself.

Very Short Story:
Juna adjusted the tuner again and heard her own name. “Juna stands,” the voice said, just as she did. Judai stepped back instinctively, unsure if the voice belonged to now or later. The signal crackled: “Judai notes this anomaly.” They froze. Even the static grew shy. She picked up the reel and watched light flicker through its gaps. “It’s all prerecorded,” she whispered. “Even the parts we haven’t done yet.”
