12.3. The Blackboards Still Holding the Lesson
(Location: Odaka Elementary School, Room 3B)
Description:
Inside Room 3B, everything remained where it had been left: chalk half-drawn across a sentence, a plastic globe toppled mid-rotation, a clock frozen at 2:37. But the blackboard had changed. It now shimmered faintly in the low light, coated in a film of condensation that refused to dry. Juna wiped a small patch clean. Underneath was no writing—only a grid of concentric circles with a dot in the center. “Target? Or pupil?” Judai asked. The desks faced it still, as though awaiting another lesson. A lesson that had mutated during the silence. This was not memory. This was a paused signal, coiled tightly in chalk and waiting to resume transmission.

Very Short Story:
The lesson plan still hung beside the board: “Today’s Goal: Understand Circles.” But the board had rewritten itself. When Juna traced the circles with her finger, she saw a pulse—not visual, but temporal. A throb of time beneath the lesson. The globe spun once, then stopped. No wind. No students. Just one last effort from a school trying to teach what the reactors had begun.
