13.16. -** ***Red Curtain Signal Loop

Location: Noh Theater Substage, Sector X2, Kyoto Inner Ring
Description:
In the forgotten substage of an old Noh theater, Judai and Juna discover a crimson curtain rigged to sensors and a film loop projector. Every six minutes, the curtain lifts slightly, the projector activates, and a shadow mimics a figure bowing. But no one is there. The loop is silent, deteriorated, fragile. A small card on the control panel reads: *Repeat until seen.* Juna identifies the performer’s shadow as one from an early Phobos colonization training video—repurposed, distorted, now performing apology or invocation. This is not performance for an audience—it is surveillance of a gesture. The loop has been running since before the war simulations. Yet every loop contains one frame more than the last. The curtain still signals—but to what?

Keywords:
##looped Noh gesture
##curtain surveillance choreography
##Phobos performer echo
##gesture as apology
##incremental film distortion

Very Short Story:
The shadow bowed, paused, bowed again. “It’s aware,” said Juna. Judai adjusted the lens and saw that the performer’s feet no longer touched the ground. “This wasn’t filmed,” he said. “It was remembered.” The next loop added a breath. Then a tremor. The curtain lifted higher. The shadow stepped out of frame. “Should we stop it?” Juna asked. “No,” said Judai. “It hasn’t finished arriving.” They sat in silence as the loop flickered and grew—adding fragments that hadn’t been recorded, or had just now occurred. Finally, the projector began emitting sound: a single word, untranslatable, spoken backward.
