3.11. The Lost Minister of Echo Affairs
(Location: Chamber 17, Government of Reverberations)
Description:
An old office in a long-abandoned building remains reserved for the “Minister of Echo Affairs.” The plaque outside is polished, but the interior is dust-choked, paper-strewn, and hollow. Inside, the filing cabinets hum faintly, as if still receiving requests. The drawers contain audio transcripts of statements never made—speeches that drifted through corridors, echoed, and returned unclaimed. Juna listens to one tape. It plays her own voice from a moment that hasn’t yet happened. “He was appointed after the last reply,” she reads aloud from a mission record. Judai notes the only law ever passed here: *All truths may be repeated, but never directly spoken.* On the desk lies an inkwell filled with reverb, a pen made of static. No signature remains.

Very Short Story:
Juna pressed PLAY. Her voice filled the room, but she hadn't spoken. It said: “This country was founded on repetition.” Judai found a letter addressed to no one, signed in erasure. The desk clock ticked backward. A memo appeared on the screen: *Please confirm yesterday’s intentions.* Juna stared at a mirror that whispered apologies to her in triplicate. “He was never heard,” she said. “Just echoed.” They left the office in silence, but their footfalls sounded twice. Once when made, and again for history.
