3.3. The Emperor’s Second Burial

(Location: Hidden Chamber, Taishō Mausoleum Extension)

Description:
Behind the official mausoleum of Emperor Taishō is a gated corridor, locked by time rather than metal. Juna finds an unlabeled keyhole embedded in the wall’s carved chrysanthemum. They descend into a chamber lined with film reels—none labeled, all playing silently in reverse. “A second burial,” Judai whispers. “Not of body, but of interpretation.” The tapes show parades in fog, speeches that echo backward, national symbols erasing themselves. A plaque reads: *This version not approved for memory.* The deeper they go, the more the oxygen feels historical. At the center: a coffin-shaped projector, its light redacted. Juna steps close. The machine activates without touching. A screen flares to life and immediately fades—leaving behind the smell of state secrets.

Keywords:
##imperial residue
##unauthorized legacy
##reverse procession
##forbidden remembrance
##archival internment

Very Short Story:
They stood beside the silent reel. Juna placed her hand on the side of the coffin-projector. It was warm. Judai adjusted his notebook under flickering lights, but no shadows moved. “He was buried twice,” Juna said. “Once by ceremony, once by forgetting.” The projector clicked softly as if disagreeing. A faint anthem played from nowhere, cut short by static. They left without taking anything. But something followed them anyway.
