4.17. Weapon Testing in Fictional Gravity
(Location: Proving Range Echo-Null, Outer Perimeter)
Description:
The Proving Range at Echo-Null was designed to test weapons in a gravitational environment that doesn't exist. A series of suspended platforms simulate conditions from alternate realities: zero-point tension, reversed mass cascade, slow-time bleed. Juna observes a tank shell fall upward. Judai triggers a mine that explodes in reverse—reassembling itself midair before clicking shut again. Weapon reports read like poetry: *Impact in 1.4 imaginary seconds. Result: Conceptual wound.* On a steel table lies a rifle that shoots intentions instead of bullets. “This wasn’t about destruction,” Juna notes. “It was about inventing new laws of harm.” The chalkboard nearby sketches trajectories that defy math and ethics. Nothing was fired in anger here—only in anticipation of enemies physics might one day permit.

Very Short Story:
Judai stood beneath a falling grenade that never landed. Juna whispered, “It’s hovering between decisions.” They watched soldiers run drills under variable density—each footstep echoing differently depending on the fiction of the hour. One target was labeled: *Enemy in Theory.* Judai fired a blank, and the wall across the range turned warm. “I think I injured something,” he said. “Possibly a future.” The commander’s logbook recorded scores based on metaphysical damage. They left the range careful not to disturb the balance of imagined mass. Behind them, a bullet slowly spun in place—unfired, unforgotten.
