6.26. Final Chart of the Recurring Eclipse
(Location: Godaigo Memorial Gallery, Observatory Rotunda)
Description:
Mounted on the rotunda’s ceiling is a vast chart—half star map, half mandala. The title: *Eclipse Pattern for a Country That Repeats Itself.* It shows 49 eclipses layered atop one another, forming a spiral that leads inward to a black circle marked only: *Godaigo.* Juna circles beneath it. “This map wasn’t drawn,” she says. “It’s the residue of every failed return.” Judai finds an annotation tucked behind a frame: *Each eclipse adds a scar to the same face.* Under the dome, a stone slab reads: *Here ended the first empire. Here begins the rehearsal.* The air tastes of iron. Their reflections do not match their movements.
Keywords:
##recursive eclipse spiral
##mandala star calendar
##imperial return residue
##rotunda scar map
##empire rehearsal chart
Very Short Story:
The black circle at the map’s center pulsed as they watched. Juna felt her body align with a curve she couldn’t see. Judai stood still, yet his shadow shifted clockwise. “This is where time curls back on itself,” he said. The dome dimmed, and a sound emerged—like the echo of applause slowed to a heartbeat. “We were always performing,” Juna said. “We just never knew who was watching.”
