7.24. The Broadcast from Below the Observatory
(Location: Ventilation Tunnel M3, JOAC Subground)
Description:
Once used for ventilation, Tunnel M3 now emits sound—irregularly, unpredictably. Juna and Judai waited four hours before hearing it: a woman's voice, clipped and low-pass filtered. “You have already arrived,” it said. Then laughter, unplaceable. Then silence. They traced wires to a defunct broadcast unit sealed behind a false panel. On it: a date scratched in code—9.11.56. “The day of the solar mirror collapse,” Juna recalled. “Someone sent a message forward.” They left a recorder running. When they returned three days later, it had captured only static. Except, faintly, beneath it: Juna’s own voice, asking a question she had never spoken aloud.

##solstice delay anomaly
Very Short Story:
Judai looped the recording. Beneath the static, her question grew clearer each time. “Did we remember wrong?” But neither had said it. The recorder’s battery had drained faster than normal. “She’s listening again,” Juna said. “Or trying to.” Judai opened his notebook to find the same phrase already written, dated the same day. They left the tunnel without sealing it. One mustn’t silence a message that hasn’t finished listening.
