(Location: Abandoned Observatory Near Suwa Lake)
Description:
In an observatory that once tracked meteorological patterns over Suwa, every monitor had been tuned to frog frequencies. The equipment hummed—ancient oscilloscopes flashed sinewaves shaped like ribbits. Judai found a long drawer filled with resin-cast frog skeletons. “Receivers,” said Juna. “Oracles.” One screen blinked a live image—an underwater pond somewhere unknown. Frogs sat in a circle, unmoving. Above them, a weather balloon floated, tethered with magnetic wire. “The transmission doesn’t come from the frogs,” said Judai. “They’re merely focusing it.” Lightning arced on the monitor but nowhere in the sky. A printout emerged: “TONIGHT: ECHO STORM.” The door locked behind them.

Very Short Story:
They waited as the printout kept printing. Each line contained a croak, transcribed phonetically, followed by a time code. At 22:06, the observatory shook. One screen displayed static. The frogs on screen turned in unison toward the camera. Judai snapped a photo—it didn’t save. Juna tried to open the door. Locked. “We’re inside their prediction,” she said. The frogs, still silent, stared until sunrise. Then the door clicked open.
