11.25. The Tape Deck That Erased Its Operator
(Location: Trailhead Radio Bunker 9)
Description:
Inside a half-submerged shack, a tape deck ran continuously. No supply reel. No take-up reel. Just a loop passing over the heads. The tape was black, light-absorbing. No hiss, no modulation. But Judai played a test tone into the room, and the tape vibrated. Then: nothing. Juna spoke her name. The deck repeated it—then removed it. She tried again. This time, no sound at all. The deck was erasing speech at the moment of recognition. “It doesn’t destroy,” Juna said. “It un-attributes.” Judai stared at the deck. “Then who made these recordings?”

Very Short Story:
That night, they dreamt of a voice telling them a story they already knew—but each sentence ended in silence. When they woke, they couldn’t remember whose voice it was. Or if it had been their own.
