16.25. The Mirror Ticket Gate of Imaichi
Location: Decommissioned Ticket Hall, Imaichi West Platform
Description:
In the abandoned west hall of Imaichi Station stands a single operational ticket gate. Its glass face shows not your reflection—but a younger version of yourself boarding a train. Judai scans a pass and sees his boyhood self step forward confidently. Juna inserts a postcard and sees her child-self hesitate, then vanish. No train ever arrives, but the gate processes endless cards, photos, badges. A ledger behind the booth lists all who’ve passed—except it’s written in reversed script. “The ticket is belief,” says Juna. “But for what direction?” The gate never opens physically, only visually. Yet some who view it swear they remember a journey taken before they were born.
Keywords:
Imaichi mirror gate, reversed identity ledger, youth boarding vision, belief-ticket interface, psychic transit checkpoint
Very Short Story:
Juna stayed still for nearly ten minutes, watching her younger self wave goodbye. “She left alone,” she murmured. Judai’s image walked alongside a dog he never owned. “This is wish-based transit,” he said. “Not time travel—desire recognition.” They tore a blank page from Judai’s notebook and scanned it. On the screen, a stranger passed through. “Is that who I could’ve been?” asked Juna. The gate beeped once. Then twice. They turned away. But the gate still showed them—older now, walking in the direction of something they never chose.
