Description:
One basement room in the former hospital near Shianbashi remains off-limits due to radiation anomalies. A camera crew once filmed there in the 1970s—every frame came out scorched orange. Juna enters in full shielding. The walls seem painted, but on closer inspection, it’s burn residue. Embedded in the wall is a frozen image: an operating table, a patient mid-turn, hands over eyes. A frame burned into plaster. Judai remains at the threshold, taking notes in graphite only. When Juna switches off her flashlight, faint outlines move on the ceiling. Locals say the film projected here had no end—its final reel fed directly into the wall, becoming heat. Inside the room, time stutters. Clocks reset, voices loop. Outside, nothing changes.

They stood in silence until a tone sounded—a long, low beep, as from hospital monitors. Then it stopped. They left, and Juna whispered, “It’s still burning, isn’t it?” Judai just nodded.
