4.19. Courthouse for Rescinded Victories
(Location: Civic Tribunal X, Settlement Periphery)
Description:
Civic Tribunal X once reviewed victories and ruled them inadmissible. Its gavel was made of eraser rubber. Judai and Juna sit in the gallery among dust-covered wigs and scales tipped by memory. One case scroll reads: *People v. The Conclusion of Conflict.* Verdict: *Premature.* Statues of blindfolded soldiers preside over boxes filled with trophies returned voluntarily. “They were proud,” Juna says. “Then asked to reconsider.” Each courtroom door bears a label: *Under Further Review.* Judai finds a hallway of appeals scrawled in chalk on the floor. The ceiling is cracked open, exposing the void above where justice might have been. Victories, once awarded in brass and stone, were now reduced to parchment soaked in ink that fades with time.
Keywords:
##revoked celebration
##legalized regret

Very Short Story:
Judai held up a gavel and it bent in his hand. “Nothing here holds weight,” he murmured. Juna examined a sealed envelope marked *Do Not Confirm Until Consensus Achieved.* The court stenographer’s log was blank—just timestamps and sighs. A trial played on screen: no defendants, only two empty chairs. The judge wept but issued no ruling. They stood before a wall where past victories had been carved, then scratched out. “Winning didn’t work,” Juna said. “So they tried forgetting they had.” Outside, a bell tolled. Not for the dead—but for the debate.
